An AI assistant called Amazon and got a full refund

November 3, 2026 · Our founder's wife · Tool: Muse, Facebook's AI app

Full refund, no return trip, and about an hour of her morning back.

She ordered vitamins and hair products from Amazon. The box showed up full of crayons.

She tried to fix it in the app first and lost part of her morning in a return process that acted like the mistake was hers. So she handed it to Muse and let it call Amazon for her.

The first call failed over something we didn't know existed. Partway through, Amazon sends an approval link to your phone. She approved it in under a minute, but the call had already ended. The rep didn't know to wait long enough.

On the second call, Muse changed one thing. It asked the rep to give her two to three minutes to approve the link, and to stay on the line until the approval showed up on the rep's screen.

Full refund, no return trip, and Amazon told her to keep the crayons or donate them. The rep added a small apology credit without being asked.

She shared nothing sensitive: no passwords, no codes, no card numbers.

Try it yourself: If a company sends you an approval link during a call, have the AI ask the rep to wait a few minutes and stay on the line until your approval shows up.

Nobody starts here. You start by handing AI the small stuff, like an email draft, meeting notes or a to-do list, and you build from there.
