About this course

Most marketing teams now use AI, but using it is not the same as getting results. This course starts with marketing basics, then shows where AI helps, where it gets things wrong, and which decisions keep you out of trouble.

You will set a clear goal before you open any AI tool, pick tools with the right terms, and build a brand brief that AI can reuse. You will teach AI your voice with a simple scorecard, edit drafts in four passes, and check every claim for proof. You will also learn the decisions behind reviews, endorsements, AI labels, chatbots, and customer data, with a dated Rules Reference Guide for the details.

The course follows two fictional businesses: Cinder Cove Coffee, a local coffee shop and roaster, and Marrowgate Payroll, a small business-to-business software company. A starter kit with both brand briefs is included, so you do not need any other course.

What you need: any AI assistant, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot. A free plan is fine. Everything is text only. No ad account, website, or image tool is required.

Your project: a brand brief and a one-page AI marketing playbook for Cinder Cove, Marrowgate, or your own business. It includes evidence that you evaluated your own AI output (an error you corrected, an improvement, or a checked decision to accept it), one decision you explain, and one limitation you state. You check it yourself against a six-part rubric before you submit. Working pros can add an approval workflow and a vendor-terms checklist.

To earn your certificate, complete every lesson, submit the final practice exercise, and score at least 75% (6 of 8) on the Final Knowledge Check.

For new graduates, career changers, and small-business owners. Working marketers get a fast baseline and a one-page team standard. It is the first step in the AI for Marketers path.

Not legal advice. This course explains common marketing rules in plain language so you know when to slow down and check. It is not legal advice. Rules differ by country, state, industry, and platform, and they change often. Before you rely on a rule for a real campaign, check the current version at the source, and ask a qualified lawyer about anything important.

Topics: marketing, small business, brand voice, brand brief, marketing claims, fact-checking, reviews and endorsements, ai labels, chatbots, customer data, privacy

What you'll learn

What a lesson looks like

A Try It exercise called "Your first prompt": a short scenario about moving a team meeting from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., then numbered steps to send a prompt in ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini or Claude, paste the reply, and note one thing to keep or change.A quick check question about an AI tool that confidently states a rent late fee. The answer "It may be a guess, because the tool can't see Fernhill's leases" is marked correct, with an explanation of why asking again proves nothing and the fact should be checked in the lease.
An example from AI Foundations, Lesson 1. Lessons in AI for Marketing Foundations work the same way: you do the task in your own AI tool, then a quick check explains the answer. Try this course's first lesson free
