About this course

Managers spend a big part of every week writing and planning: team updates, meeting agendas and recaps, task instructions, feedback, and training plans. An AI assistant can make that work faster and clearer. It can also cause real harm if you paste in the wrong thing or send a draft you did not check.

This practical course shows new and working managers and team leads how to use any AI chat tool (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Microsoft Copilot) as a management assistant. You will turn messy notes into clear messages, write task briefs with a real "definition of done," organize feedback with the Situation-Behavior-Impact method, rehearse a hard conversation with AI role-play, and build 30-60-90 day onboarding plans and one-on-one question banks.

Every lesson follows the same ground rules. Protect your people: names, health information, pay, and performance or discipline records stay out of AI, and you learn how to anonymize a request so you can still get help. Check your company's AI policy and talk with HR before using AI for anything about a specific person. Check AI drafts for invented facts and for vague or biased wording. And remember that AI drafts, but you decide and own the words.

The course works in offices, field services, healthcare administration, and small businesses. Every example uses fictional companies and people. Each practice activity gives you a copy-ready prompt and a model answer. No technical background is needed.

This course is not legal or HR advice. Always follow your company's policies and talk with your HR team.

Topics: managers, delegation, feedback, difficult conversations, role-play, onboarding, one-on-ones, meeting notes, employee privacy

What you'll learn

What a lesson looks like

A Try It exercise called "Your first prompt": a short scenario about moving a team meeting from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., then numbered steps to send a prompt in ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini or Claude, paste the reply, and note one thing to keep or change.A quick check question about an AI tool that confidently states a rent late fee. The answer "It may be a guess, because the tool can't see Fernhill's leases" is marked correct, with an explanation of why asking again proves nothing and the fact should be checked in the lease.
An example from AI Foundations, Lesson 1. Lessons in AI for Managers and Team Leaders work the same way: you do the task in your own AI tool, then a quick check explains the answer. Try this course's first lesson free
